Good market or Bad

I speak to many people every day like most of you. I often am asked, "Hey Duke, what do you think will happen in the market next year."...or, "Do you think the market has bottomed?"...or various similar questions.

My dad always said, "There is no such thing as a good or bad market, only good or bad investment strategies." This was Ranch Hand Logic as my dad was a rancher that raised cattle, sheep and wheat in North Eastern Wyoming. He would buy what made the most sense at any given time. What works this time, does not necessarily work the next time. The professional real estate investors are always in the market. They buy and sell based on what the market is at the time they buy or sell.

I cannot predict the future. I am not a fortune teller and thinking that I am, can lead to trouble. I do not preach things that I cannot back up with data. That type of preaching is hypothesis and conjecture, but I prefer to work with facts because when it comes to investing, decision making using predictions is essentially gambling, and I don't gamble. There is no need to take on that kind of risk! I am a numbers guy.

What we can do is make intelligent and educated decisions on investments by weighing all the facts at hand and ensuring that we've done our due diligence.

Whoever said that type of deal would be easy to find? Many people are skeptical that they can be found, but I'm here to tell you that we find them and we buy them and sell them.

I had an investor that told me that we should be buying gold. The only way to make any money with gold is to buy low and sell high to someone that thinks he is buying low. My suggestion was for him to buy cocaine. At least he would feel good while he is dying.

I have noticed that economists are usually wrong and were put here to make the weatherman look good.

I enjoy working with people of like mind and similar investment goals and objectives.
