below grade vs. above grade

When I was younger, still living in my parents house, I thought that I would never live in a basement apartment. Well, the first place I moved out to was a basement apartment. Yuk.

I lived in Greeley Colorado, in a basement apartment for my junior year of college. I was married and my only thought was to be above grade.  If you live in the central US, you know about "below grade vs. above grade".

Now I live on the pacific coast, and there are no basement apartments. Yea!  But there is still the overwhelming factor of whether or not my life is "below grade" vs. "above grade."

Am I living in the dark, or living in the light?

I have found my light through trial and error, by getting out there each day, and through positively giving unabashedly to my community.

This blog is about achieving success through living a life gratefully "above grade!"

  1. This last year has been a most incredible year for me, like a 180 degree change of events. It ended on New Year's Eve with me on stage in front of the curtain in an auditorium giving a brief speech to over 1300 people!  This was the first time in my life that I have ever done this! And you know what? I wasn't afraid, not even nervous!  And I killed it!

    What was I doing?

I was asking for money and time.

Donations and volunteers to some of Eugene Oregon's finest citizens.

How did this come to be?

A year ago I ordered a vision board from Jack Canfield online. I put pictures of my dreams on it, and statements of affirmations. Standing in front of the curtain is not on my vision board, but BECOMING A SPEAKER is.

Another thing on that vision board is: HAVING MY OFFICE DOWNTOWN. I am now typing away in my own real estate investment office downtown, my employee sits in the front. I have a marketing person, and a business manager. I'm looking for another marketing person.  A year ago I was working out of my house, by myself.

I am grateful to the BIGGER POCKETS podcast for the inspiration, and I thank Shaun McClosky, and Mike Jacka who encouraged me, and my husband who has helped me so much!
