Finally Moving Forward

So after a month of nothing, I finally got a quote from the framer I wanted to use and we are moving forward. The contractor had ended up in the ER for a week and needed another week of rest after his release. My patience and concern for him paid off with a inexpensive quote and a start day of this coming Tuesday.

The permit was an easy process. The application was only a page with my information, the contractor information, the cost of labor and repairs, a $54.00 fee and a copy of the architectural drawings. Once the City called the contractor to get an idea of what the process was and that he knew what he was doing, the permit was approved and in hand in less than 24 hours.

Monday will be a busy day. I will spend most of the day at the house since it will be delivery day. I have all the wood and materials being delivered, the 20 yard dumpster, a port-o-can, and the water being turned on. Since I have to be there all day, my plan is to tear out the walls and ceilings of the encoded porch, clean up the back yard (which has become a dumping ground) and measure all the windows for replacement.
