I Will Change My Profile to Real Estate Investor After My First Close

It's late Saturday. The Texans had their asses handed to them by the Chiefs and we are still bobbing up and down in the Gulf Of Mexico doing nothing. Seas have to be less than a meter for the divers to do their job and we can't continue until that happens. Looks like it might be Tuesday until anything happens. We were so bored my last shift that the 6 people on shift each picked a number and had one of our spouses run to the store to buy us a lottery ticket. 900 million baby! We will call this plan B for retirement.

Since it is the weekend, nothing is really going on with the house. I sent an email to the owners yesterday giving them an update. Now I am just waiting on the title company to come back with no issues and then we can set a closing date. Once I close the house I will change my profile to investor. Then I can say that I am one.

I'm working on getting a list together of contractors. As soon as I have the key after the close, I'm getting companies in to do estimates on the house. My holding costs are low since I'm paying cash, so time isn't super urgent. But I would like to get at least 3 estimates done. I'll have my niece pick up the lockbox and key from my wife and put it on the house so contractors can get in without anyone there. I have a feeling this first part will be a cakewalk compared to dealing with the actually rehab from offshore. But I want to see if I can do this from where I am now, just to see if it can be done.

My latest schedule is 2 more weeks out here, 4 days in Mobile, AL., another 2 week trip and then directly to another offshore project in the Gulf of Mexico. I would complain, but with all the layoffs in my industry, being busy right now is a blessing.

Side Note: If anyone says they can't wholesale or find deals or become a real estate investor because of whatever reason, remember that I'm offshore with satellite phones and satellite internet.
Basically a signal comes from outer space from a geostationary satellite that is 22,300 miles above the earth's equator and hits a satellite that is two foot diameter on a boat bobbing up and down in the middle of the ocean, around 250 miles off the coast of Louisiana.
My office is a boat and the phone and internet are spotty at best.
No excuses. You can do it. You just have to find a way.
