Getting Organizized
It is amazing how quickly my life can become disorganized. I always have the best intentions when I start a new project. But as soon as I slack on daily commitments, then ship begins to sink.
I am near the end of my first rental rehab. Wow- it has been quite an education! I have learned a lot of things to do. But I have learned even more about what NOT to do again.
The biggest "to do" for me: keep everything (inside and outside of my business) organized. I have read tons of articles and lists of how to be better at organizing. But at the end of the day- I just have to do it.
Example: Taking the time to log my expenses in Wave Accounting. I would go buy a bunch of materials or cut checks to contractors and wait until the weekend to with rd the numbers. Soon, my weekends began getting crazy with family birthdays, get togethers, work, and everything else. This led to a mountain of receipts and not knowing the exact dollar amount of where I was with the budget! I put myself through some unnecessary anguish to say the least.
I spent 3 hours last night catching up. I have spent $13,500 out of the $30,000 budget. We are doing terrific as far as keeping the budget down. The trade off- we will not have the property ready to rent for another month.
