Stop Punching the Clock!
Hi, My name is Daniel North. Thank you for stopping by and reading my first blog post on BiggerPockets.
I want my first blog post to be a bit inspirational and informational. I chose the blog post title " Stop Punching the Clock " because that's exactly what i want to do and you should do too. I have spent my whole life participating in the rat race we call the employee slaveforce. Well, that's what i will call it. I have unfortunately gotten used to working for other people and making them money all the while i get dirty and taxed beyond belief to a mind numbing nonexistence. I have never had the privilege to obtain a higher education or go to college. I am very thankful for Youtube and Google because if it wasn't for those invaluable platforms, i would be lost in translation wandering through a library trying to find relevant information pertaining to the very subject i want to speak about, real estate investing.
I am not here to preach or anything but i have opened my eyes and seen the light! I am a sponge when it comes to learning new things and when it's something i am really interested in, I cannot get enough.! I love researching subjects and analyzing them till my head spins. I have discovered the realm of real estate investing by accident and previously would have never paid it no mind. I love reading and listening to audio books about this subject whenever possible, especially when I'm at my J.O.B.. Not to sound too cliche' but I have been so inspired by this subject that i am all in, hooked, and completely enveloped by the idea of real estate investing that i have dropped all other hopes of hair brained get rich quick schemes to making money.
Real estate is a no brainer! Everyone needs somewhere to live and properties will always be bought and sold. There are many various ways to earn money in this sector of investing that i want to learn and explore all of them. I find it intriguing to say the least and I am ready to fully explore the life of a real estate investor. If you are tired of the 9 to 5 grind and want to dictate your own hours and compensation than join me on my adventure and make it happen through hard work, motivation and persistent diligence.
I have begun to set short and long term goals for myself pertaining to real estate investing and not only am i doing it for myself but for my son too. I will share my achievements as they come and hope you do the same with me. I'm not getting any younger and i have come to the realization that i have wasted and squandered too much precious time in my life doing nothing productive and procrastinating as well as being surrounded by the wrong people. These are not the ingredients for success, but failure. Thoughts become things and I have an idea and a vision to become more than just an employee but become a real estate powerhouse in my own rite. An evolution from a blue collar average Joe stuck in a proverbial dead end wasteland to a wealthy and respected so called white collared member of society is upon me.
So i want to reiterate that i want to learn as much as possible and teach as much as possible along the way. I encourage all comments, ideas and knowledge pertinent to the subject at hand to be shared with me and all who are interested.
Thank you, D. North II

I myself have been interested in real estate and getting out of the rat race I have learned about this past year! I am 26 years old and I knew 3 years ago punching a clock was not for me. I have always had the "mindset" of an entrepreneur or businesswoman, but without guidance I really was just wasting time. I can relate to your post alot and I hope over the years you have seen progress!

Daniel,
Great post. I hear you. I am the same way. I was searching for a way to leave my 9-5 and I believe real estate investing along with my other business ventures is the key. I just turned 50, I have a degree but having one doesn't equate to success. I want to be captain of my own ship and work for profits, not wages anymore. Stay strong and you will reach your goals.
