A noobs account of getting to action

After reading Brandon turner's book "no and low money down" I put it to action and have secured my first equity partner! I am now on a guided mission to locate my first flip in the salt lake city UT area. for those of you who do not know the area its been my experience thus far that deals are hard to come by off the MLS. I have sent out connection requests for a few buyers agents and have had a couple accepted I hope to find an agent that will do what he or she said they can do. I have also gained the placement on a couple whole sale list.  I have made connections with a couple very experienced investors, who seem willing to give me quality advice, however its my suspicion that they are really waiting to see if I am a tire kicker or some one whom grab the bull bye the horns and run the beast into the ground! I assure you the latter of the two will be proven to be true. See ever since 4th grade when my grand father brought me two big bags of peso's from his trip to Mexico I realized one thing there is either a market for what you have or need or you make a market for what you want or need. After I asked my grandfather if I could go down to the 5&10 store and buy candy, my grandfather told me when he handed me the bags that they were not worth anything they were just to show the kids in school. Inside the bag there were all different sizes and shapes of coins. I would dump them on the floor and check them all out wishing I could at least use some to buy a candy bar sheesh.

The next day I took a few of them to school and showed my friends they thought they were pretty cool especially the big ones that were the size of between a 50 cent piece and a quarter.  I had a friend that asked if he could buy the coins I had with his milk money. I said sure, the big coins are a quarter the medium are a dime and the small were a nickle. I had no idea what scaled economics were but I seemed to make sense to me bigger= more!    the next day I brought more and the word was spreading quick at recess. I had a large group of kids that were surrounding me to look at and buy the coins. It took me a week to sell both bags of coins and when I was done I had almost 100 dollars. the next problem I had was I wasn't sure what to do next because when my mom asked where all the coins were that grandpa gave me I  had to show her the $100.00 dollars and I had a heck of a time explaining what I had accomplished. I could see the look of disbelieving in her eyes and I got the "wait till your father gets home" line!

Dad got home and I was freaking out I could hear my moms muffled voice down stairs explaining my explanation and the next thing I know the door opens and I can hear him coming up the stairs. He walked over to me and gave me a big hug an told me how proud he was of me for accomplishing what I had and proceeded to point out the lessons to take from this experience the best way he could to a young boy! I used my money to buy a 10 speed bike to use for the paper route that I was going to start that very summer!
