Episode 36.37 – Thanksgiving & Winter

– Morning Routine –

Last post I described a morning routine that I have set up for myself to increase my reading time and prepare me for the day. Well, no suprise, I only behaved accordingly about 20% of the time since then. My excuses? Well, thanksgiving for one and having the cold being the other reason. I was out of town visiting family and when you're on vacation, well your schedule and anything you want to get done simply grind to a halt.

So now what…? Well, I'm leaving the morning routine where it is. If I can make it to 50% behavior change, I count that as a success since it'll take time before the habits become second nature. So far though I have made progress with the two books I've been trying to get done. All I want is to finish them before the new year. This will bring my reading list for 2015 to eight books, which is not that much, but it was more than the years before when I didn't keep track.

– Part-Time Job -

I mentioned last post that I wanted to get a part time job to supplement my income. This is to pay off consumder debt faster and allow me to build reserves even faster as I now only want to invest without using any consumer debt. Previously I had use some for repairs on project 192 and will again if project Rocky moves forward.

So since the last post, I have managed to find one. If everything goes smoothly, I will actually be starting today. This post is currently being written in the afteroon instead of the usual time, later at night. The job is part time and nothing glamorous but it will fit in nicely to my daily schedule. It starts in the evening and will only take a few hours per day. What will I be doing? I will be taking people's trash to the dumpster. So simple, anyone can do. As soon as I get a pickup truck, I will actually get pay a little more.

I'm not sure why but I'm just as excited about this as I'm excited when I sold project 192. Maybe the idea of having reserves and growing my investments even faster is making me all motivated.

– Project Rocky -

Project rocky recenlty had another bump. I had to spend some money and got a welder to repair the frame. The singlewide was bending due to the roof being bent out of shape. Still learning as I go. I have entertain the thought before and it occasionaly comes up again where I would just dump project Rocky and leave it completely. If I'm lucky, I can sell it to another investor like myself and just get the cost back.

The more I think about it the more I think I should stay and stick it through. At some point, I still need to learn what goes into rehab a singlewide and I better learn it now rather than later. If I leave it I will eventually have to face the same lessons again down the road, unless I quit and pursue an entirely different niche or strategy, which I don't plan on doing.

– I'm thinking once I'm in the clear with my consumer debt and Project Rocky is behind me, I can plan on growing a little faster than previously. Until then, I need to keep my head down and focus on one issue at a time. In other news, I made it to podcast 117. I know it's not thankgiving anymore, but I'm quite thankful for where I am. I'm thankful for my health, my family and the craziest thing I've done, investing in mobile homes… I'm also thankful for you by the way, my readers. I do notice my profile and blog visit numbers changes. I'm also thankful for BiggerPockets, what an amazing site. OK, see that's all I got, see you next post :).
