Is A Website For Real Estate Investing Really Necessary?
Must you have a website for your real estate investing business? What is this website thing anyway? And how does a real estate investor website super charge profits for your business?
So many times now over the years, I have seen many real estate investing business with no websites at all. It almost always turns out that the real estate investors have no clue if they need a website or not. Lots of them happen to not even understand what this website thing is all about. Others have resigned it for the big fortune 500 companies to own websites.
So: should your real estate investing business have a website or not?
What is a website?
I know this is a very basic question, but you must understand it first? This article exists on a website. A website gives you a virtual presence online, where you can engage visitors that want to learn about you or your business and probably do business with you. And sometimes this will happen even without meeting you in person.
Every website you see out there has three things:
1) Domain name - This is a name unique to you, such as myname.com. You can only register a domain name once. It is a good idea to think about the name you would like for your online presence. It is easy to research online if a domain is taken or not.
When you buy a website, you can register a domain, or register it separately.
2) Hosting account - This is where the website is physically located. This is usually a space on a server. Most like a domain will be bundled with a real estate investor website whenever you order it.
3) The website - These are the virtual files that sitting on a server that you see, such as this page. These are the ones that serve the information you see when you go to the website. They sit on the hosting account. Again, when you buy a website, you will not have to differentiate all this as it would most likely come as a "website".
You might have to buy the three components above separately, so it is important to understand them. If you are lucky, one order will take care of them all.
So, to have or not to have a website for your real estate investing business ?
Almost everyone today is connected to the internet, and everyone starts their search online. When a motivated seller is looking to sell their house, the first place they will look is on the internet.
If you are looking to buy a house, even before you get a realtor, most likely your search will begin online.
Obviously your real estate investing business will be exposed to more people if you have a website. Think of a website as a tool for real estate investing that boosts your profits while saving you time and money.
What makes a good website?
You need more than just an online presence for real estate investing. Most of the websites you see out there are just simple and informational. Such websites rarely go beyond providing information, and rarely engage their visitors. Obviously a lot more than this is needed.
A good website must work to make you more money by promoting your business. Here are a few must have qualities for a good real estate investor website:
1) Attract leads - Obviously, the success of any business depends on attracting new people to do business with. A good real estate investor website needs to attract leads hands-off from the internet through search engine optimization. Your website will attract more leads the higher you are on search engine search results. This does not come automatically - your website must be well optimized for search engines to attract leads.
Though Search engine optimization is a wide topic, it means that the content on every page on your website must be easily recognizable by both people and search engines through specific keywords. For instance when you google "pizza delivery near me", your results will be pizza outlets near you that offer home delivery. The results cannot be car dealers. This is because the keywords you search for must return businesses and websites optimized for pizza.
Your search is also likely to return hundreds of results. You are most likely to respond to one of the top search results. The guys at the top have worked to optimize their websites and businesses better than the others to appear at the top - hence they attract more business.
This is the same principle that applies in real estate investing. A well optimized website will make you a lot of money for a long time to come.
2) It must have clear call to action - you must get every visitor perform a targeted action on your website, such as signing up (such as to get an EBook, submitting their house information, etc). Those action must be simple and clear. This is probably one of the most important things on a website. If a website visitor does not know what to do next within a few seconds of landing on a website, you are most likely going to lose them for ever. The screen shots below illustrate examples of simple calls to action.
3) It must be equipped to convert those leads to people who are ready to do business with you - Your website must engage the visitors with a promise to fulfill their needs. A website equipped with a video speaking model for example will capture instant attention and keep the visitor engaged until they sign up.
Once they sign up, the website must automatically follow up with them at pre-determined intervals through email. These should work to increase rapport and convert these prospects to closed real estate deals.
4) Easy to use - even someone new to computers must be able to control the website, preferably from a virtual back office. You do not have to mess with stuff like HML, PHP, etc. A good website must be nice and easy, and get the job done.
5) It should make your work easy - getting a real estate investor website does not mean spending your life with your website. It should make your business easier, such as automating follow-ups, making offers, selling, wholesaling or renting houses, etc. A website should allow you to do more deals, at the same time reduce your work.
6) Adaptable - You must be able to adapt your website to suit any real estate investing business model. You do not need to buy a new website whenever you change business models or whenever you have a new idea. Preferably, the website should be easy for you to adapt it yourself without hiring someone to do it for you.
7) Customizable - a good website must be loaded with hundreds of customizable designs, as well as the ability to customize everything on the website. All content and forms must also be fully customizable.
8) Real estate friendly - your website is for real estate investing, so it must be equipped specifically for real estate investing. It should have all the features necessary to manage a successful real estate investing business such as listing houses, managing buyers lists, attracting and Managing leads, and so on
This short summary should guide you when you are looking for a good real estate investor website. And yes - you must have a website for your real estate investing business. This is the internet age.
Does such a complete real estate investing website exist?
First off, we have agreed that every real estate investing business must have an effective website to be successful. A website that actually runs your real estate business. A website that takes over your daily tasks freeing up your time to close more deals.
A website that comes with automation capability that makes your work easy. A website that addresses your audience directly. One that compels your visitors to take action now - leading to more closed deals.
It should be a website that easily adapts to any business model in real estate investing, such as buying, selling or renting houses, wholesaling houses, seeking private money, or any other business models. In fact it should be a website that you can adapt to suit any business model you can think of. Preferably done from simple virtual back office. Oh, even if you just got your first computer.
You should be able to create your own content or change existing content, and should be loaded with hundreds of responsive designs. You should not have to pay more to change your website design.
Your website must delivered exactly as you need it ready for business TODAY. Most importantly, you get a website that actively attracts leads hands off. A website loaded with tools to engage each visitor to take specific action, becoming valuable prospects. These prospects are then converted to closed deals by carefully written follow-up autoresponder messages.
Ultimately, your website should help you save more money, time and effort while closing more real estate deals.

Thank you for this article. While attempting to put everything together to get started learning the REI business (such as wholesaling, flipping, valuating property, etc), I keep getting reintroduced to situations requiring others to reach me, and not being prepared.
In all actuality, it's like "which comes first, the chicken or the egg"? Before I can do business, I must create a team and a network of resources so when I do come across a deal, jumping through hoop will not be required and more than anything else, I can proceed and be perceived as a professional...
That will also require me getting business cards and establishing a database of sorts to handle the information gathering; while keeping records for checks and balance purposes as I grow...
This was quite helpful, now I can continue my progress...
Thank you

Hosting does not really offer any of the features mentioned in this article, or any other features for that matter. It is the website that comes with the features, but the server that it is hosted on must provide the "freedom" to run those features.
First, the important thing is that the hosting provider has fast servers and internet connection.
Secondly, a hosting company MUST impose some server restrictions to prevent all customers in a shared server environment. These restrictions are supposed to protect other clients from malicious users (such as hackers). However some hosts can impose too many restrictions that they interfere with the smooth running of your website. Most web hosts do not restrict their servers this way. This means that if you buy one of our websites (RealEstateInvestingWebsites.com), you can run it on about 98% of the hosts out there.
That being said, we do offer hosting that comes with no restrictions, for an unmatched price. We also recommend hostgator.com - their servers are fast and friendly. We do not require that you host with us, as long as your host meets system requirements, and does not have server limitations that we have previously detected. If you already have an existing hosting account, please contact us to check if you can run your website on their servers.
Hope this helps,
Simon

Thanks for the handy checklist of must have features. Any recommendations on a hosting company that offers all of those REI-centric bells and whistles?
