Who the Heck AM I???

I don't know how I feel opening my life and soul to you, we have never met!  Well you look okay so here goes.

I am a fifty-six year old, unemployed geezer who has decided to put my eggs into the non-performing notes basket, perhaps foolishly!  I have been a real estate agent, have flipped several houses and have done one non-performing note deal.  My wife is overly cautious and so I have always made a significant profit on my real estate endeavors.

So why non-performing notes?  Well, The real estate agents I know all have 2 jobs, such as, real estate agent at night and Walmart greeter during the day.  I enjoy my couch way too much to spend that much time away from it.

To make the most out of flipping I do much of the work as I am both a plumber and electrician.  I am too damn old and beat up to force my tired body though crawl spaces and under sinks.  Besides finding a property is a challenge with all the HGTV fans leaping on any fixer that comes available.

The best money I have made was on the notes.  Now I did use my previously favorite profit system:

  • Buy cheap
  • Move in
  • Fix up
  • Sell after two years

I love that system because the profits are tax free.  Besides I always was employed and wasn't looking to flip full time.

Now after losing my job and heart surgery my nest egg has dwindled and other than fast food restaurants, nobody wants to hire senior citizens.  Works for me because now I am forced into making real money without the stresses of working for someone.  (You know I mean besides my wife!)

So that is Chris Kelly and what I am about.  Hopefully this will be a fun ride for all of us.

May the road rise to meet you.

Chris

  1. @Christopher Kelly: I'm a little late to your blog. I found it searching BP for NPN, and decided to look at the blog posts.

I'm actually reading similar info on another web site, but you took it to the next level, by telling me WHERE to look in the FDIC/FFIEC info; RCM and RCN. Wow! That's been very helpful.

I'm going to reach out; maybe you can help me get a decent understanding of NPNs. [=

  2. @Christopher Kelly Good luck on your note buying adventures! I know a couple from my area that does this full time! May be in 26 years when I am a senior, I can have a good understanding of buying notes as well! For now though, I will be that guy crawling  into small spaces and under sinks.

    Best of luck

  3. Thank you Rosendo,

Welcome to the senior class!  Life has been mostly great without getting rich.  Now it is time for a little extra to get the most out of the last years.

I have been lucky to get out of many investments with a small profit.  I am shooting for something a little bigger now.  With time comes wisdom they say, I guess I will know soon.

  4. I also have been to that side of the moon and can say that with some of the same types of life experiences, can drag you down so either we sink or swim, I'm not the greatest swimmer by no means, however I do get into the cold water and take the action to swim, and wont stop til I reach my goals, even if I turn 100 yrs. old, I will always keep doing.................................. Good Luck in your search for what you look for, everyday that you change one little action, you change the course of your journey in this world, and keep us informed as to how your goals of buying paper progresses Chris,
