BRIGHT, SHINY OBJECTS…

I absolutely love this time of year!  It is one of the few times in the year where I get to experience the wonderment of my childhood, the joy of the festivities, honor the purpose for our celebrations, and celebrate the LIGHTS.

 I love the LIGHTS!

I have stated on many occasion that “you can never have too many lights at Christmas!”

At this time of year everywhere we look there are

BRIGHT, SHINY OBJECTS…

Bright and festive ornaments.  Tinsel and glitter.  And the lights!  Each in its own way bringing, I hope, just a little enjoyment to all who choose to experience the moment.

Yet, as much as I love the BRIGHT, SHINY OBJECTS which have become an integral part of this time of year… there are some bright, shiny objects which can only spell ruin for those who pursue them.

Some of you may know what these bright, shiny objects are through first hand experience.  Others may be wondering… Pete how could any bright, shiny object be the ruin of anyone?

Let me explain!

Have you ever started what you considered was a worthwhile endeavor?   One where you had visions of accomplishing something truly significant in your life?  Say, like, investing in real estate, because you were told that it was a great way to get RICH, to make easy money… just spend an hour a year (I exaggerate) and the money will flow… only to realize that achieving real success in real estate takes a bit more effort then just sitting around waiting for the money to roll in.

And while you were waiting or struggling to get these real estate riches to roll in you started to loose your focus and all of sudden saw another opportunity.  A BRIGHT, SHINY OBJECT.  An object that promised easy and substantial RICHES if you just spent an “hour a year” (again I exaggerate)…

How many times in the past 24 months have you caught yourself in this position?  Where you found yourself chasing the next best thing, because it looked better than whatever it was you were working on at the time?

During one of my recent Mastermind meetings, we had this very discussion.  I don’t go on rants very often in my Mastermind meetings… but when I heard a Club member start to talk about looking at other “opportunities” to “get rich”… I almost popped a gasket.

When my rant was over, I believe that everyone understood this basic premise…

Unless you are lucky enough to win the lottery, the only way to increase your income and accumulate wealth is to have absolute clarity regarding your goals… take action, massive action... consistently… with purposeful effort… and learn to ignore all of the BRIGHT, SHINY OBJECTS whose only purpose is to distract you from what you claim you want!

GETTING RICH IS NOT EASY…

IF IT WERE…

EVERY ONE OF US WOULD BE WEATHLY!

And since most of us aren’t, we just have to work at getting rich.  There are no free lunches!  But you know that.

So… at this most special time of the year, enjoy the bright, shiny objects that are a part of the season… and remember that if the next bright, shiny object is not part of celebrating the season… stay away from it!

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

To Your Success...

Pete

  1. Jim... well put!

  2. Shiny things and bright lights are used to attract ones attention. If the unglamorous item behind those lights are worth attention then they should be considered. But if it is just another tree which has to be disposed of, then stay away. Above all dont let the lights blind you from something that is worthy of attention without the lights.
