Intellectual Property and the BP Community
Bp is absolutely an amazing community. I have made some incredible friends. Built some incredible relationships. Quite frankly I wouldn't be ANYWHERE near where I am today had it not been for this community. I want to take the time to address something that I've seen become more commonplace as of late.
This community is all about giving back. We help each other learn new skills, avoid pitfalls, and grow our businesses. That doesn't, however mean that we should expect everyone to give away everything for free.
@Jerry Puckett will answer your direct mail questions.
@Brian Gibbons will answer your Lease Option questions all day long.
@Ben Leybovich will discuss 30k midwest houses.
And the list goes on and on. We all have our "go to" people who's advice we tend to upvote and store in our cerebral cortex. I think that it's safe to say most of us have found value in the main "players" of BP at one time or another.
The culture of BP is a community environment that thrives on sharing and respect. So don't ask for intellectual property and expect a free handout. There are members on this site who have spent decades building systems, contracts, relationships, and perfecting their craft. If you feel what you're asking for has value offer to pay for it. If you can't find the information searching on BP chances are it's a "trade secret" or intellectual property that has been refined through years of trial and error. I know we tend to shy away from paid education on this site. But I personally think the members of our community are worth supporting.
I sent THOUSANDS of pieces of mail through Jerry. He also coached me through my first several deals for FREE.
I'm going to take Brian's course on lease options when my summer slows down. I actually already successfully generated a $25,000 spread off of his FREE advice already.
I bought Ben's course on Cash Flow Freedom University and it really helped me make sure I had my basics ironed out. In fact if you're brand new to REI it is the BEST course you will buy.
I love this community and will continue to be a contributing part of it indefinitely for many years to come. BP is excellent for answering basic questions, building the framework, and helping us grasp concepts. But if you need specific help... If what you're asking for feels priceless... Don't expect if for free. We are better than that.
