The Joys of a Stress Free Move - How to Do it.
Anyone with experience of moving homes knows that it can be one of the most stressful, not to mention pricey, things you could ever do in your life. Is there any way to make the transition less painful?
Thankfully there are a few handy tips and tricks to help make this transitional period less of an ordeal. Below are a few insanely easy tips on how to have a, relatively, stress-free move.
Start small and start early
Depending on the amount of things you are taking with you on your move; packing can be quite a time-consuming experience. One of the best ways to keep from being overwhelmed is by starting small and starting early. As soon as you make a final decision to move, start packing up small and unessential stuff right away.
An example of this would be things like packing up memorabilia or books sitting on your shelf; basically anything you haven’t used in more than 6 months should go in a box ASAP.
Place an empty box in each room
This is a great idea if you are packing room by room. Place an empty box in all of your rooms and pack non-essential things as you go. This may seem like a fruitless exercise at first but the longer you take stock of the things in your home; the more you will realize how much of it you don’t really need on a day to day basis.
Label everything
Organization is key when moving homes. The most important things to label would be the boxes with fragile contents. If you are feeling truly organized, you can even go as far as making a list of what went into each box. Many families will make a list of everything packed and label the individual boxes (and the corresponding list) with a specific number to make it easy when the unpacking begins.
Let go of stuff you don’t need
Moving is one of the best times to purge your home of stuff you don’t need. As you pack, you will slowly realize how many of your possessions are truly unessential. Should you pack your favourite ripped jeans from college (over 15 years ago)? We think you know the answer to that one.
