The mindset shift going from single family to multifamily
When I started real estate in 2006 my main goal was independence. I didn't want a boss anymore. But I also didn't want employees. I liked being a "solopreneur" and this was what I did for many years. I did hire an virtual assistant about 2 years ago but other than that I've always just done deals by myself.
And the reality is, I've gone about as far as I can go on my own and it's not far enough.
So when I started looking into multifamily investing I quickly realized I was going to have to let go of the idea of doing everything on my own. Multifamily is much more of a team sport. And as much as I liked doing things on my own, I am very excited about the idea of teaming up with more experienced people.
Because there is a lot more that can go wrong in a multifamily deal and I don't want to make all the mistakes I made in single family. I would go bankrupt quickly if I did that!
So along with all the networking I've been doing, I also just joined a mastermind group from Think Multifamily with Mark Kenney. It's a great group of people and I am very excited to get to know everyone and learn from them.
