How to Increase Sales With a Positive Attitude

A bad attitude in sales, as in any profession, can derail your relationships and your effectiveness. So how can you have a positive attitude? How can you make this new way of thinking, make you more confident, decisive, and effective? A positive attitude is much more than just thinking that "the cup is half full" or "patience is a virtue". Being a positive thinker may take time, effort, and a plan of action. But, the benefits of being optimistic will not only make more people want to be around you, work with you, and increase your sales; it will also have a multitude of positive effects in your life. Most notably, a positive attitude leads to reduced stress, creative thinking, and increased happiness. The benefits of reduced stress and happiness will lead to a healthier you; whereas creative thinking for a salesperson will lead to increased income. Being able to put together a pressure filled transaction that requires creative thinking, will not only lead to additional sales, but it will build a reputation that you can solve difficult dilemmas and breakdown obstacles that your peers cannot.

What can you do to become a more positive thinker?

1. Calm Down - In stressful situations, learn how to control your reaction until you have time to think through the events. Once you have thoroughly thought about the event and different ways you could react, you will not only reduce your stress but the stress of the other parties involved. Your controlled reaction will lead to a more creative and positive result.

2. Positive Exposure- In every office environment, there are negative and positive individuals. If you surround yourself with positive people, you will pick up some of their attributes and traits which you can incorporate into your personality. Watching a positive person on a regular basis handle stressful situations, will show you firsthand how an optimistic attitude will noticeably affect your customer and peers in almost every situation.

3. Learn to Be Grateful- In everyone's life people have fortunate events, as well as negative conundrums. By focusing on the positive things in your life, instead of the unfortunate events, you will be a stronger more optimistic person. This will allow you to handle negativity better, which will be noticed by the people that you come in contact with daily.

You can encourage yourself to make a conscience effort to be more optimistic in stressful situations. Having positive thoughts, especially in stressful situations or a negative environment, will help make you a more optimistic person. Having a more optimistic mindset will lead to affecting others behaviors and reactions to you and your dealings with them in a more positive light. The more overall positive experience your customer has, the happier they will be. Especially, if you face adversity with a positive attitude, resolve the problem, and limit the stress to your customer. As in most sales, the best marketing you could ever have is a happy customer.
