05.18.14 Book Review: Getting Everything You Can Out of All You’ve Got

I didn’t think I cared for Getting Everything You Can Out of All You’ve Got by Jay Abraham as I was reading it, but I have found myself recommending it, so think I would summarize it as a great book for looking at the world differently, even if it is not at all aligned to my perspective.

It’s a marketing book. Network, innovate, don’t do thing just to be doing them.

Translating his concepts to rentals, there are only three ways to increase revenues: get more properties, increase rent, or increase the length of time people stay. We should position our properties as having a unique benefit that isn’t offered by the competitors. Educate buyers or renters, and keep reinforcing the benefit so they see it, appreciate it, and want it. Know the positives and negatives you bring to the table, and know what your end goal is. Always look for what you could be doing better, differently, more effectively, and more profitably. The author encourages us to see problems, obstacles, limitations, or boundaries as an opportunity to find a possibility that addresses the issue and creates more value. Also, if we care about our sellers, buyers, or renters and work to solve their problems, we can be more successful by directly linking our properties or solutions to their desires and needs.

The author uses lists of questions to help readers think through their current business model, which are useful.

I didn’t get any concrete take aways, but it got my brain thinking differently, and I’m glad I read the book.
