401(k) Seminar and 2014 Outlook

I was at a 401(k) seminar today. It was only 1/2 hour, but it covered the highlights of what we're going to expect in 2014. Some points I took away:

- Returns on stocks should be about 5-8%.

- Returns on bonds should be about 2-4%.

- 2014 will hold steady and not be as good as 2013.

- Unemployment is going down (projected to 6.7%).

- Federal deficit should be less than half of 2012 year end number.

- Existing home sales will be up.

- Auto sales will be up.

They advised to invest no less than 50% and no more than 80% in stocks. Mutual fund returns will be close to zero.

Am I wrong to think that 8% returns seem low?
