I Might Have Forgotten Something on My Application ...

Ah, the joys of being a landlord!

I had a showing today at one of my duplexes. A woman fills out an application around 9:30 am. At a little after 1 pm, I get a voicemail from her: "I looked at a unit at [address] today and I want to talk to the property show-er one more time; I might have forgotten something on my application."

So I call her back and she said that she has her brother, his wife, and their baby staying with her -- in a 243 square foot efficiency apartment. Oh, and they need to be on the application as well but she forgot to list them.

Yes, she definitely forgot something on her application!

  1. Ebe, The first thing I do is check out the state's online database. It shows criminal history, eviction history, and any judgements that are there. I check out Facebook and anything else online. I call landlords, and I call employers.

  2. Interesting! Can I ask what program/system/website do you use to conduct screen for background/credit/eviction history? Thanks, Ebe
