How to pick the right home

When you want the best luxury home for sale, it can be hard to see the forest for the trees. First thing you’re going to want to do is make a list of all the things you want in a home. This can be all your wild, fantastical, crazy things you always wanted – this is your want list – not your needs list! Then you will want to follow this with a must-have’s list – stuff you absolutely have to have. After that you want to make a list of deal breakers – stuff that you can handle or don’t want in your next home.

This s the fun part of the list; think of all those fantastic thigns you’ve always wanted in a home but never knew if you could have. Pool, third floor, go crazy with all the stuff you’ve wanted. Talk with your partner and try and wheedle this list down to something manageable – most people are able to find a luxury realtor that can find them a luxury home for sale that has some of their wants! Just don’t be so picky that you’re not able to find a suitable home – it happens more often than you might think!

What do you need?

Now you need to figure out just what you need from your new home. Do you need to be close to schools, mass transport, do you need a 3 bedroom condo? These are the kinds of things you’re going to need to think about when you make your list of things that you need in your new home. You’ll want to be crushingly honest with yourself, your partner and your family about what you all really need. Your wants list was for fun, but this needs to be very serious.

What are your deal breakers?

There are things that all of us just can’t stand and don’t want in our next home, especially if we have them in our home now. Think about why you’re moving now and what about your current home is making you move. Maybe a home without a yard is a deal breaker, maybe you need to make sure you have a patio that doesn’t face a brick wall. Whatever you’re looking for in luxury real estate, you need to be able to find it. Be honest with your list of deal breakers and stick to them no matter what.

Have your list ready before you shop

You’re going to want to take some time to compile your list and make sure that it’s as complete as possible. You don’t want to end up with a list of stuff that makes no sense, but you need a direction. Give yourself a deadline when buying luxury homes for sale and talk to a luxury realtor to make sure that there’s nothing you’re missing. If you show a luxury real estate agent your list of things and they look anxious, you’ll know right away that you’ll probably be better off with another agent or realtor.
