I am a working mother of 2 children with section 8

I am a mother of 2 children who was laid off from working in a hotel for 2 years.  I could not find a job that paid enough for me to pay childcare, rent plus purchase food and just live.  My unemployment checks were not enough to live off of but I thank God for that.  They came to an end in November 2008 after 6 months of receiving them.  Not knowing what to do, I came up with the idea to clean residental properties(occupied and vacant) also foreclosures.  This is how I came up with the idea, money running out no where to turn.  I got my first client by word of mouth the rest from referrals of very pleased clients. Then section 8 called (Lithonia Housing) I applied for this YEARS ago and finally it came through.  This was a blessing.  Now alot of landlords are very leary to accept persons with this voucher because of the prior experiences (nightmares) they have had with tenants who hold vouchers.  Can someone help me or give me any leads to find a property or landlord that is willing to accept this.  I am more than willing to go thru an interview or they can inspect where I live now to ensure that I will take care of their property just as I would if I owned it.  I just want a decent place to call home and I will be more than willing to keep it in good condition as this will be what I call home and you will be proud that I am your tenant.  My lease will be up in  the end of May 2009.  Any leads will be GREATLY appreciated.  Thank you for taking the time to read this.

  1. I have a home in Snellville that I am about to put back on the market for sale but if you'd like to rent it I would be happy to.

  2. Thank you John Klahn for your suggestion for craigslist. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for sharing

  3. Michy, I am not located in your area so I can't suggest any particular rentals. However, if you go to this website: atlanta.craigslist.org and search in the "apts/housing for rent" section for this phrase "section 8" you will find over 50 listings for today alone. I hope that will help you. Best of luck! John in Denver
