Bandit Signs Still Work for Real Estate Marketing
Sometimes Old Fashioned Real Estate Marketing Still Works!
When it comes to searching and finding motivated sellers of properties, one tool house hunters or Real Estate Investors still rely on without hesitation is so simple most people don’t even think about it. Although online sites and search engines are incredibly valuable, some users don't want to give up their email address. Classified ads may be tried and true, but often require searchers to find the ad by buying a print paper or be a subscriber of the online newspaper. But there is a low-demand, high-yield, unequivocal property search aid without any of those drawbacks: the good ol’ frontyard ‘We Buy Houses’ sign.
It may seem like an awfully old-fashioned marketing method, but that sign remains one of the most effective tools we recommend to attract sellers. With the prices of single-family homes on the rise in half of the largest US cities, many who have been on the sidelines waiting for the market to turn around are revisiting the idea of selling. For them, what about putting out that ‘We Buy Houses’ sign in front of your home, a friends home or on the corners of major intersections in different parts of the city.
One advantage is obvious: signs alert the most motivated sellers – those already on a mission to sell their home. Your cell phone number (or a number that plays a recorded message) will certainly draw inquiries from interested sellers. Although its reach is a tiny fraction of the Internet’s, not everyone begins a search for home buyers online. To reach potential sellers who have a need for someone to buy their property, the humble sign can be your #1 marketing tool.
Today’s property sellers have cell phones, and are able to dial your phone number when they see your bandit signs. Not so old fashioned, after all…It is also an inexpensive way to get started in Real Estate Investing.
Drawbacks
The main disadvantage is location location location: only people who already live in the neighborhood, pass by the sign will see it. The quality of those reached is high, but their numbers don’t compare with what online listings can yield. Also, some sellers are nervous about the idea of seeming to invite unwanted visitors – although the addition of a “call for appointment” tag usually resolves that issue. For those who are shy about announcing to the neighborhood that they are ready to move, it’s good to remember that the goal of posting real estate marketing "We Buy Houses Signs" is to attract as much attention as possible: hiding the ‘product’ is counter-productive.
There are many ways to advertise your business as a Real Estate Investor. Many sellers search begins with a drive by, some with an online session…but for others, that simple yellow bandit sign can be what prods them into thinking about selling their property. For anyone planning to market their Real Estate Investing Business, the surest first move is to make a marketing plan and or hire a professional that can mentor them through the Real Estate Investing process and you can bet that a good old-fashioned (or nowadays, new-fashioned) bandit sign will be part of that Real Estate Marketing plan.
