A new fix for ‘Fixer Upper’ fans

“Fixer Upper” fans might have said goodbye to the hit HGTV show last week, but there’s more shiplap to be hung in a spinoff series debuting tonight.

“Fixer Upper: Behind the Design” revisits some of Joanna Gaines‘ favorite makeovers in a half-hour show. At least five episodes are scheduled.

Tonight’s episode looks inside the renovation of a cottage featured in the premiere of Season 5, USA Today reports.

The couple simultaneously shot this show along with the original “Fixer Upper” and debuted a pilot in March 2017.

Joanna Gaines will use this show to offer more tips on how to achieve similar looks of the Magnolia brand. Viewers will also learn a few secrets about the original show, Popsugar reports.

What’s behind the staying power of the Waco, Texas couple? Kelly Lawler of USA Today writes:

“Celebrities we know from Hollywood or the music industry may be just like us in some ways, but there is unquestionable distance from their fans, no matter how relatable they may appear on social media. The Gaineses are not like that. They are just a couple from Texas with a family to take care of and a business to run. There are no movie premieres, location shoots or sold-out concert arenas. And while this is true of many HGTV couples and personalities, their setting in Waco, Texas, helps them relate to Middle America more than shows such as Flip or Flop, set in pricier cities.”

While filming has ended for the series, the couple are keeping busy with book deals, a new restaurant, a line for Target and a quarterly magazine. More here
