Spring Forward in Amarillo, TX this March 2013

It’s time to spring forward in Amarillo, TX this March 2013 with lots of great community events that are perfect for the whole family. Daylight savings time begins March 10, 2013. And while it’s a fun time of year to get back out and enjoy the community, it is also time to take care of a few things around the house. When the time changes you should also check the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. If you have any alarms that are older than 10 years, consider replacing them. And, it’s a good time to prepare for spring weather with a home disaster preparedness kit that includes water, food, blankets, batteries, portable radio, and flashlights.


When you’re finished around the house, come out and enjoy the many events in and around Amarillo, TX and spring forward into the season of fun. And, don’t forget that Spring Break week is March 11-15 for students.


Amarillo, TX March 2013 Events:


Cowboy, Country and Faith Concert – Come see R.W. Hampton in concert in Canyon, TX at the Palo Duro Cowboy Church. A chuck wagon dinner will begin at 6pm and tickets can be purchased by phone at (806) 655-4700. The concert is free and open to the public.

Restaurant Roundup 2013 – The roundup is now in its 6th year and will be sponsored by the Panhandle Restaurant Association, Ben E. Keith Company, Affiliated Foods, Atmos Energy, and First United Bank. So come out to the Rex Baxter Building at the Amarillo Tri-State Fairgrounds from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. There will be over 50 restaurants and wineries showcased at the event that will provide all guests with a large variety of local food and drink favorites. There will also be a highlight chef competition; “Battle of the Chefs”, and local culinary experts will be judging the event. A live band will top of the event for even more fun. Buy tickets at www.panhandletickets.com for $25.


Participating restaurants include Jo Daddy’s, Macaroni Joe’s, La Fiesta Grande, Shlotzsky’s, Joe Taco and more. Bring 3 cans of food to receive a commemorative wine glass. Donations will go to the High Plains Food Bank.
