Building Safety Month in Amarillo, TX

It’s building safety month in Amarillo, TX this May.  This is a great opportunity for anyone who worries if they live in a safe house or building.  Through the program, the City of Amarillo is raising awareness of building safety throughout the community all the month of May.

safety month

When professional inspectors inspect for building safety and fire prevention during construction, they are helping to ensure that the places we live, work, worship, learn and play are safe.  So, during the month of May, the City of Amarillo’s Building Safety department will be hosting an Open House each Tuesday at City Hall.  There will be displays in the City Hall lobby that are dedicated to Building Safety awareness, and they will serve refreshments.

Each week they will feature different aspects of building safety:

The week of May 14th – Disaster Safety and Mitigation

The week of May 21st – Fire Safety and Awareness

The week of May 28th – Backyard Safety

On Saturday, May 12th and May 19th, you can find activities for the whole family at Pride Home Center, 3503 NE 24th Ave as they partner with Building Safety and other community organizations.  The activities will begin at 8am and run throughout the day until 5pm. Activities will include workshops, free bird house building kits and a cookout.  The Amarillo Fire Department will also be there featuring a fire truck for the kids to enjoy.

You can find more information about Amarillo, TX building safety at the official city page – www.Amarillo.gov.
