My Why for Real Estate Investing

My mother was diagnosed with a terminal illness at 70 years old, 6 months after the start of her “retirement” with my father began. She died shortly after. For years she had spoken about how much she looked forward to all of the wonderful things she and my father would do once he retired. She never lived to enjoy these retirement years.

My parents did everything “the right way”. They diligently saved for their retirement in 401k and stock brokerage accounts, and once that pile of money was big enough, they retired. But by then, my mother no longer had her health. This financial paradigm followed by my parents is followed by the vast majority of people in my life. But the passing of my mother and the realization of how finite life is led me to seek financial freedom sooner. Did I have to wait until 70 years old before I had the freedom to do what I wish with my time?

I went on a rampage of financial education reading every book, listening to every podcast and examining the people in my life while asking questions. Who was happiest? Who was freest? Who was wealthiest?

This rampage of education led me to real estate. The happiest, freest, and wealthiest people in my life were real estate investors. They all had built cash flowing real estate portfolios that provided passive income to them every month. Many of them had so much passive income coming in every month that they quit their day jobs and no longer needed to trade their time for money. I made the decision that this would be me.

In this blog I will share the many Whys of real estate, how to rewire your thinking around income, and more topics imperative to financial literacy. I have gained tremendous knowledge while rewiring my brain from the old paradigm and adopting this new paradigm for investing, and I am excited to share.
