Relationship Advice When Investing - What I Have Learned

When I first got the real estate investing bug, I was engaged and soon to be married to my now wife. I think every investor or entrepreneur can agree that managing your relationship with your spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, or what have you is not an easy task and takes time to cultivate.

Personally, I think as an investor you need to sit down, look at your life, and figure out what type of life you want to create for yourself. Envision the life you want to live. This will give you a more clear picture and will help you better articulate to your loved one what your plans, goals, and dreams are. Discussing what your goals and having open and honest communication is a great place to start. Have a conversation about what you want to achieve and how your loved one can support you. Maybe they have no interest in real estate at all, that's ok too. There are other ways they can support you and you can support them. Ultimately, figuring out how you both can align your goals and values with each others, in my opinion, will help your relationship.

Each relationship is unique, and what works for one couple may not work for another. I'm no therapist or counselor by any means, but I do know my relationship has become stronger as I have been more open and communicative within our relationship.
