Neighborhood Guide: Cedar Springs

Just 20 minutes North of Grand Rapids sits Cedar Springs. Named for its fine springs encompassed by clusters of cedar trees, this city allows for easy access to the cultural amenities of the Grand Rapids area. The city has a modest retail business district and a reliable industrial base. This community of tree-lined streets allows for boundless possibilities for future growth.

Davis Ringler’s apprenticeship at the Fliegerbrau Brewery in Munich allowed him to learn about German beer culture. The drinks aren’t the only notable menu item, The Cedar Springs Brewing Company also offers authentic meals from the Upper Bavaria region of Germany with dishes including the popular Jägerschnitzel, a traditional Bavarian hunter's dish with a sauteed pork cutlet smothered in a mushroom cream sauce and Haus made Spätzle, accompanied by Prieselbeer jam and a slice of lemon. The menu also includes many vegetarian options. This restaurant brings good service and even better beer.

The rustic and homey Classic Kelly’s Family Restaurant has been serving up quick and tasty meals for cedar springs. This restaurant has gained popularity from its friendly service and hearty breakfast options. The comfortable and lively atmosphere makes this place a family-friendly space. The menu itself offers a variety of entrees aside from its amazing breakfast including burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and pizza. The Kelly’s Family Restaurant menu even features a few Mexican-inspired meals like burritos and quesadillas. Out of all their menu items, one that stands out is the chicken fettuccine alfredo. Kelly’s Family Restaurant puts a twist on this classic dish by adding bacon and fresh tomatoes finished with homemade cheese garlic sauce. With unique dishes like this, it’s no wonder why this family restaurant has become a city staple.

by architect W. Bruce Matthews III, the courses offer challenges for any level golfer. The course is very spacious with greens measured at 7800 sq ft with a length of over 7100 yards. Featuring five sets of tees, golfers are able to choose the yardage and play at whatever level of golf is comfortable for them. After a round of golf, stop by the clubhouse which, alongside tasty food, offers a full selection of beverages with a great view of the beautiful course and its surrounding area.

CSHS offers a rigorous curriculum curated with a relationship-oriented body of teachers and students. The high school also offers the New Beginnings Alternative Education Program which allows students to fulfill their education requirements in a nontraditional route, equipping struggling students with the correct tools to achieve academic success.
