Red Shed Redemption: Rehab Practice and Single Family Homes

After football was done I moved back home and then Covid hit. Everything shut down and I became bored and living at my parents house became increasingly harder and harder. I was out on a walk with a friend who does video production and we talked about creating a show where I turn a garden shed into a tiny house. For him it provided a chance to work on something more creative then his normal business takes him. For me, it allowed me to have a purpose, to learn some trade skills I always wanted to learn and to eventually have a place to stay. The show became a Youtube series and you can see it here if you would like https://www.youtube.com/channe...

I had always enjoyed wood working and being outside and knew enough to be dangerous when it came to finishes and building. Many of my family members were builders including my 2nd cousins and my dad and grandpa always had a knack for building and helped doing various building tasks at different times in their lives. As a football coach I did not have much time or the tools to work on these skills but I was excited to learn them when I had some allotted time where the world shut down.

I felt these skills would help me in the future if real estate did become a thing for me and what a low-stakes way to learn when you are just rehabbing a garden shed. There were ups and downs of course but this gave me the confidence to tackle bigger projects when the time came.

After finishing the red shed and with no prospects in the football world I decided to get my real estate license. I love helping people, and with increased knowledge of construction and investing I thought I could provide something that a lot of agents couldn't.

I lived in the red shed for a few months but as it got colder I began looking for a new place to use my newly learned skills. I began making offers on single-family homes.
