Thoughts on Getting Real Estate License

Over the past few months, I've undergone the process of leaving my full time job, completing a Texas Real Estate Prelicensing 180 Hour Course, taken and passed the Texas Real Estate Exam, interviewed and selected a broker to "hang my hat" with. All of this has transpired while finding, negotiating, closing and started rehab on my next flip in North Richland Hills, TX.Whew, deep breath.

Now that I am set up for business on the Agent Side, I realize how difficult and daunting it can be to get started. While my mortgage and Investment background makes it a little easier, there is the process of having deal with information overload.

As a New Real Estate Agent, I figured most of book education was out of the way. Haha! Yet another requirement is having to sign up with my local board of REALTORS®, with included a 4 Hour Mandatory Introduction Training, a 2.5 Hour MLS training, while also navigating new company policies, procedures, technology, processes, etc. There is lots of time and money to put in to get into the business, that's for sure. Oh, did I mention I had to get fingerprinted for a state/federal background check. I haven't even got a SUPRA card, business card or signs yet?

So, lots going on right now and I'm excited and overwhelmed at the same time. I now have a new found respect and appreciation for all agents. If you have a great agent to work with, take great care of them!
