Choose your profession wisely
Almost everyone seeks respect, responsibility, recognition and reward and people go at them in different ways.
There is some crazy falsehood that starting your own business will set you free. But in reality, most start-ups and small business owners are held captive in a crazy routine. And large business owners quite often become obsessive about survival and competition. Such high external level of stress often sucks the life out of them. And sadly, quite often also these business owners have such an inflated sense of self- importance that they refuse to step back and acknowledge that their lives have become quite busy and rather miserable.
So frankly, working in a company that has a decent group of honest, intelligent and energetic people, doing something that you enjoy because you are learning something new and interesting all the time, while being challenged to grow and contribute, could be a lot more rewarding than flying solo on some stressful business venture.
Also, if you have a good degree of autonomy, a decent pay with good incentives and feel a personal satisfaction at the end of most of your days, then you probably are enjoying a better lifestyle than the so called pioneer business owners. Truthfully you’ll probably have more stability, opportunity and an overall better lifestyle.
Any stress you may feel with such a structure is probably self induced and a simple moment of self reflection could be the cure and your on going therapy.
Finally, if you still wonder what you could accomplish on your own, remember that you could always start something on a part time basis next to your work. But keep in mind however, that such a lifestyle change will eat up your personal time, will create a toll on your being, and will add a whole new level of obligation you did not have before.
So unless you are truly committed to sacrifice personal time, some money and lots of effort in a new direction, I would not consider such a move.
There is a price and a value for everything. Successful people get what they want because they make it happen and pay the price. Happy people want what they get because they make the most of what they got and appreciate the value of it all.
Either way, choose your profession wisely based on who you are and what you like doing, because I assure you, whether you own your own business or work with a successful company, you will spend a lot of your personal time thinking about work!
Wishing you much success and happiness.
