Create momentum in REI. How to identify your next step!
Hey investor folks!
I presented on the topic of goals, specifically SMART goals and identifying the next step. I wanted to share some slides and the worksheet that I created for that presentation here.
The reason that I chose this topic was that for the longest time and at many points in my career I felt as if I was staring at a mountain and trying to figure out how to climb it. I was in climbing shape, I had done all my homework, but I felt overwhelmed and decided to stand still rather than to jump on in. All I needed to do was identify my first step and I would be 100% further than I was before. It creates significant momentum when you show the universe, this is the direction I am heading and I am taking the next step. It almost screams at the universe, COME HELP.....um, an object in motion stays in motion, right? It certainly should and for me one step led to another, confidence, creativity and people supporting my journey met me at every new step and that is what I want for my investors! No matter where you are in your journey, especially when you have a lot of things going on sometimes it takes a deep breathe (hug a tree and ground yourself) and just look at the next step needed.
Bottomline, have a goal to reach. Don't flail (technical term) around. Make goals with intention.
What result do you want your effort to work toward?
Here we are focusing on an REI goal, but remember to be a well-rounded person!
These are the types of goals, since you are reading this blog I am assuming (and hoping not to make as ass out of u and me) that you have a lifetime and long term goal in mind the REI will be assisting you with.
Take a moment to learn about a SMART short term goal before setting off to make one that supports your long term goal!
Review the checklist of questions to help you qualify your SMART short term goal.
For me, my action plan comes from my SMART short term goal and breaking it down into what they call stepping stones. Send me a message for my worksheet to help you through this process. We are going to walk through an example of how I turn a SMART short term goal into stepping stones and then my action plan!
You can see how the stepping stones support my SMART STG which supports my long term goal!
Another way to see it, it rolls up to my LTG.
Choose a stepping stone and break it down! For me 6 steps is not overwhelming and can lead to a significant amount of momentum to support this stepping stone. It won't be all that needs to be done, but it's a great start. I like to break it down into actions that I can accomplish in one day, or a shorter period of time, so I have the satisfaction of completion. I love checklists!
Reorder to what has to happen first and place dates by them! Schedule this time, place it on your schedule to handle these items in order. This is your plan! Work it with no excuses. This allows you to identify your stinking NEXT STEP! This is what you need to do next! Then you work your way down the list and the sense of accomplishment and the momentum you create will be beyond what you think it will be.
Thanks for reading folks! Here is to a prosperous year and LOTS of MOMENTUM!
