DON'T WATCH NEGATIVE NEWS! Your Business Will Thank You.

As a business owner (yes, real estate investors ARE business owners) your overall attitude plays an important part in your business. I have always said that your business is a mirrored image of yourself. If you are consumed with negativity, your business will experience negative results. It makes sense that if you are the driving force of your business (you are the one behind the wheel, steering the bus) your attitude is going to be present in your business and the results that are derived from operating it.

With that said, why would you surround yourself with any negativity? Today’s news seems to be more negative than positive. Talk of rising interest rates, decreasing property values, slower housing markets, etc. None of that is positive.

There is a phrase that goes something like this: “Garbage in, garbage out.” The meaning of that phrase is that if you feed garbage into something, then what exits will also be garbage. It is said that we become like those that we spend time with. If we hang out with angry people who are constantly disgruntled, then the chances are high that over time we will adopt that personality too.

How could taking in all of that negativity that we are consuming from negative news feeds be healthy for us, or for our business? Honestly, its not. While we as humans seem to be drawn to the negative side of things (slowing down and rubber necking at highway accidents, when we should just keep moving and let the emergency trained personnel do their jobs), we need, or actually MUST, overcome that natural tendency to be drawn to negativity.

Instead of watching depressing news, spend that same time on something that brings joy to your life, or revenue and growth to your business. Schedule in-person events or online events with those that have positive things to say about their lives and business. You will find that their positive “vibes” will rub off on you and perhaps generate new and exciting ideas of helping your business do better, earn more, spend less and prosper overall.

Kick the negative news, and any other sources of negativity in your life to the curb! Embrace positivity and those that supply it, and you may discover that you enjoy each day a little more and look forward to the next with anticipation of what new exciting opportunities it will bring for your real estate investing related business.
