Did You Know Your Phone Can Make Calls?
It's true...
Texting & emailing are great ways of communicating. They are fast, easy, and efficient. I send Gifs all the time and it's a great way to make someone laugh or drive a point home. It's also very easy (and fun) to go down a YouTube or Instagram rabbit hole. So how will that get you closer to your goals?
Using texts and emails are great ways to interact, but there's also almost no accountability. When you send a text or email, it often gets lost in the shuffle. You could send a text and as a way of saying "I did my job" put it on the other person to respond. Same thing with emails. You fire off an email, and "You did your job", and that's that.
With a phone call there is NO ESCAPING! I know it sounds scary, but when making a phone call to chat, ask questions, build a relationship, etc. the responsibility is fully on you! When first starting out, you don't know what you don't know. It is intimidating to call a stranger out of the blue for the sole purpose of wanting something. That something is to do business with them, ask questions, see properties, etc.
Not only are you able to put yourself out there when making a phone call, you are also able to quickly get a feel for the person on the other line. That is impossible any other way. Quickly vetting and realizing who you want to work with is almost half the battle in Real Estate. In order to build your network you need to be able to vibe with someone. What better way than to actually have a face to face HUMAN interaction.
The next time you find yourself complaining about how hard real estate is or how you can't find deals, ask yourself when the last time you spoke with someone in the business on the actual phone. You might find yourself scaling your relationships and network bigger than ever simply by taking that first uncomfortable step and calling someone.
