Hungry For Success

Hungry

Dictionary result for hungry

/ˈhəNGɡrē/

adjective

  1. feeling or displaying the need for food.

"I was feeling ravenously hungry"

  • causing hunger.

"I always find art galleries hungry work"

  • having a strong desire or craving.

"he was hungry for any kind of excitement"

I want to talk to you all about the last definition: having a strong desire or craving.

A couple months ago while I was in church my pastor gave his testimony, and this was my first hearing it. I was amazed because through his tough times, he always listened to God! While telling his testimony, he mentioned how you have to be HUNGRY! Now, this isn’t the first time I’m hearing that you have to be hungry.

I was reading an article a couple months before this that popped up in my email from a Tony Robbins newsletter. This article said you can’t just be motivated because motivation is temporary; it said you have to be HUNGRY!

A couple of months after I hear this message twice, I hear it a third time. And ya know, third time’s a charm… So, I was listening to a service by T.D. Jakes on Youtube, and he says (shouts) you have to be HONGRY (in his accent)!

These are three very successful men. So they know what they’re talking about. You have to want the success sooo bad that you get past the motivation. Because motivation doesn’t last very long, maybe only for the couple of minutes you watched that motivational video.

So I want to ask you reading this right now:

Are you hungry?

What’s stopping you from achieving your goals right now? Is it because you weren’t “motivated” this morning? Why are you feeling stuck? Do you even know what you’re hungry for?

Let’s figure that out first…

  1. What is your vision/goal? (Something you want to accomplish within the next year)
  2. WHAT IS YOUR WHY??????
  3. How can you achieve that goal?
  4. Will anything stop you from achieving that goal? If so, what?

I believe that to maintain your hunger for success, you have to know your why, understand you why, and think about your why very, very often. If you want to dig deeper into your why I suggest you read Start With Why by Simon Sinek. (This just gave me another blog post idea.)

Bottom line: GET HUNGRY! and STAY HUNGRY!

Best wishes,

Jas
