How To Stay Focused & Absolutely Destroy Your Real Estate Goals

When it comes to completely conquering your real estate goals, the ability to focus is absolutely important. However, you must remember that you are a finite being and that you are not able to focus on 300 things in one day.

One book that I find to be invaluable to the process of focusing, planning, and achieving goals is ‘The One Thing’ by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan. This non-fiction, self-help work was created by real estate entrepreneurs and experienced authors. The main message of the book is to simplify your workload by narrowing your focus to the one most important task of any given project.

I have found this book to be powerful and helpful as I plan my days and months. Since reading this book, I have sought to highlight the one thing for each day that if I accomplish it, I could look at my day and say it was a great one.

As I try to stay focused and hit my real estate goals, I develop a plan for each month. So, I will have my August goals written out. I then categorize these tasks and goals into categories. Within each category, I have one thing that stands out as the most important task that can make or break my month. So, I have a major thing in my personal goals, my business-related goals, and my rental portfolio goals.

While I have this practice, I still maintain a daily notepad on which I write my tasks for the day. Just like others, I copy over unfinished tasks onto the next day’s list so that I can get them done.

Another great book for these seeking to demolish their real estate goals is ‘The Millionaire Real Estate Investor’ by Jay Papasan. This book provides practical advice and guidance for individuals trying to build wealth in the world of real estate. This is one of the main books that has motivated me to follow the path of real estate.

According to Jeff Boss, in an article on Forbes.com, the simple act of setting goals helps you to focus more on achieving them. Here are the 5 reasons he suggests why this is so:

  1. Goals stimulate behavior: When a clear goal is set, it serves as a guide for your actions.
  1. Goals guides focus: With a clear picture of where you are headed, you will know what is not in line and what is worthy of your attention.
  1. Goals maintain momentum: The journey to the attainment of your goal can constantly keep you on your toes as you inch nearer and nearer.
  1. Goals align your focus: While there may be a number of ways to get to success, knowing exactly what you are heading towards will keep your focus appropriately narrow.
  1. Goal setting promotes self-development: The person you will become in shooting after your goals will amaze you.

As already established, staying focus is critical to achieving your goals. Don’t be afraid to take a break and look at what is important to you and what you want to achieve. It will serve as the road map to your desired lifestyle.
