Quick Tips For Attending Real Estate Investor Meetups
I just started attending some local real estate investors meetups in and around my area. It has been a great experience so far, and I have been able to meet lots of different types of investors at every end of the spectrum. These meetups are fairly new to me, but I have been networking for a long time and want to share a few things that I have learned to help maximize your experience.
1. Always bring business cards. If you don't have any from your current job, or its one that you don't feel comfortable handing out then have some made just for networking. They can be as simple as your name & phone number. I would suggest also add that your a real estate investor, and any specifics that you would want people know (wholesaler, buy and hold, flipper, etc..) This will help you keep in contact with those that you meet, and give you more confidence asking for their cards, as you have one to exchange.
2. If given the opportunity always get up and announce something to the group. In most meetups they moderator will give anyone who wants to the chance to get up and pitch deals, make an announcement, etc... Don't ever let this opportunity pass you by. I do understand that no one wants to speak to a crowd, but this can be a quick 30 second pitch. If you don't have any deals to pitch, you can still announce what you are looking for, etc... This will help everyone in the group to recognize you, and help you gain exposure.
3. After the meetup is over make notes on the back of any cards that you collected. This will help you remember who everyone is. Also, try to connect with them on BP, linkedIn or other professional platforms. This will help you keep in contact over time.
4. Don't be shy! This is a big one. Everyone is there for a similar reason as you are. Make your way around the room and introduce yourself to everyone, and if given the opportunity stay after to do additional networking. This is where many of the connections are made.
If anyone ever has questions or comments, feel free to reach out!
Hope this helps and Good Luck Networking! Thanks Aaron
