How to Survive Monday Sickness

Normal 1556025287 How To Survive Monday Sickness

You have had a great weekend with friends and family. You went to parties, attended cultural events, watched the latest movies, and felt like you owned the world for two days. Then, you realize that Monday is just around the corner. All the fun memories you have made over the weekend are evaporating as you sink deeper into Monday sickness.

Monday sickness is a real thing. People feel exhausted and anxious at the start of the week. As a result, they don’t feel like coming to work or finish their tasks, which would explain why productivity levels are so low during Mondays.

Fortunately, there are ways to beat Monday sickness. Let’s look at some of these ways that always work well for me.

1. List down the things you want to do on a Monday

Monday sickness happens because we just don’t know how to start. When you sit down at your desk, you ask yourself, “What am I going to do now?” Your answer to this question will define the effort you will be exerting throughout the rest of the week.

For this, it helps to list down the things you will need to accomplish for Monday. You can do this before the start of the weekend or at least two weeks in advance. That way, as you start another work week, you will have a list of things to do that will give you the push you need.

2. Finish Monday’s work on a Friday

Another effective way to get rid of Monday sickness is to finish everything you need before starting the weekend. When you still have spare time before Friday ends, use it to finish some tasks you will be doing on a Monday.

This works well if you usually have a large workload during Mondays. When you lighten the amount of work you need to finish, you are able to put more energy and focus on more crucial tasks. This will make it easier for you to warm up for the long week ahead.

3. Go for a jog

This may seem strange to you, but jogging does help you throw Monday sickness out of your system. After all, our physical health can directly impact productivity. Moreover, physical exercise allows us to warm up our minds for another series of challenges.

Before the sun rises, put on your athletic clothes and running shoes and start doing laps in the nearby park or the track oval. Bring music players with you and listen to energizing songs that will keep you in the mood. While you’re at it, think about what you are going to accomplish for today. This should help put you in the zone.

4. Stay positive

Don’t let Monday sickness bring your down. Instead of looking at Monday as a bad thing, look at it as another way for you to become a better worker. Be positive and think about the accomplishments you will be able to achieve. After all, every day provides a chance for you to become a better version of yourself.
