Setting my Sprint Goals

Hello Everyone!

Welcome to my blog! It's pretty empty right now because I'm young and inexperienced and I have to start changing that somewhere. So here I go!

Right off the bat, These are my 2025 goal and 2018 goals, and I'll provide background after in case you lose interest soon:

2025 Goals:

  1. 1. Be financially independent.

2018 Goals:

  1. 1. Analyze a deal a day.
  2. 2. Get my Real Estate Agent License (in VA).
  3. 3. (Moderate version) know my financing options for my first deal.
  4. (Victory version) Purchase my first property.

I've been super inspired to make real estate investing my source of financial freedom since I started listening to BiggerPockets podcast last year. So I've been studying up on Real estate investing, primarily by listening to stories and advice from the BiggerPockets podcast.

My 2025 goal is very singular and simple: Be financially independent. I don't think a 7 year goal needs to be much more elaborate than that. I am sold on real estate and I am going to achieve this goal one way or another.

I decided not to put down goals for beyond 2018 (yet) because I still don't know what I want to invest in! All the options sound amazing if you do it right so I'm still narrowing down options.

My 2018 goals are based loosely on BP principles. I hear I am supposed to be committed and jump into this thing, but my personality is very analytical. I definitely anticipate being subject to some analysis paralysis at some point so count on seeing that from me in the future and feel free to kick my ass if you see that from me!

Goal 1 is the simplest goal I could give myself: Analyze a deal a day. This was a suggestion in a few of the BP webinars I've listened to. Once I'm more comfortable with analyzing, I think I'm going to post a few reports as blog posts and get some feedback from the community.

Goal 2 is something I'm already working on. I signed up for classes and I'm going to get my real estate license within 6 months (or waste a couple bucks if I fail). I decided to do the REA classes mostly for the education. I want to know what my agents know and I want the option to switch careers if it turns out I like being an agent.

Goal 3 is the one that makes me sweat a little bit: Buy a property. I've added a moderate option too: Know what my financing options for my first deal will be. I added that because I'm terrified of pushing myself too far, too fast. I don't have a huge support network on this endeavor of mine, and I want to not pressure myself into taking a bad deal just to hit a deadline.

This year is all about solidifying my plans, educating myself, and preparing to dive into the real estate investing world prepared to be successful. If I get my first property by the end of the year, I'll have had a very successful year!
