6 Things Property Managers Can Be Thankful For
It's impossible not to make our very first post for this blog about Thanksgiving, considering it's tomorrow. At Rentigo most of our time is consumed with finding innovative ways to solve some of the biggest problems property managers face in the age of digital. We're taking that hat off for Thanksgiving to focus on everything we believe property managers have to be grateful for instead - despite some of the challenges!
Here's the shortlist of 6 things we came up with but no doubt - as technologists - there's some we missed. Please feel free to add yours. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
1. Flexibility
Property managers enjoy full control over their schedules. With the right support tools, property managers can generate passive income from an unlimited number of properties and still have the time they need to focus on family, or other priorities in life.
2. Tax Deductions
It goes without saying, that when it comes to tax deductions, property managers have a lot to be grateful for. Since so much goes into making sure a rental property runs smoothly, everything from repairs to maintenance and even travel expenses can become a deductible. Of course, we recommend working with a tax professional and reliable reporting tools to ensure any and all expenses are documented properly to this end!
3. Meeting Interesting People
Property managers are by definition ‘people people’ and indeed, the more properties you manage, the more people you meet. From tenants to vendors, the people a property manager comes in contact with in a given day hail from different walks of life, and offer their own interesting stories to share.
4. Modern Technology
It might have taken a while but property management is now almost completely caught up with other industries in embracing digital to help automate and simplify routine tasks. That means today’s property manager can be grateful for enabling technology that makes running multiple properties and communicating with tenants a lot easier.
5. Great Tenants
What property manager isn’t thankful for great tenants? Beyond just being generally nicer to do business with, dream tenants also care about the property and help take care of it, pay their rent on time (or early!) and diligently follow all of the property “rules of conduct.” Indeed, these tenants are a dream come true and make the often-challenging job of being a property manager that much more enjoyable.
6. Memorable Experiences
Working with so many people, learning their stories (good and bad), and contending with the unexpected (leaky faucets, natural disasters, and the like) can be one big emotional rollercoaster, but it can also create beautiful moments we cherish for life. We get to experience the generosity and goodwill of others in trying times, and rise to occasions that help bring out the best in ourselves.
