Getting Started with Investing

Investing

You've decided you want to invest in real estate. Congratulations!  The biggest first question about real estate investing, is where do I find properties to invest in and how do I find the best deals?

The answer is fairly simple.  Educate and network.

Educate

Educating yourself about the area you are investing in is key.  Search out statistics on specific areas, check listings and recently sold houses to see what houses are going for.  Make sure you are well educated on the laws of buying real estate so that all of your paperwork is correct.  Search for local seminars on investing, real estate, being a landlord, or any topic you may be interested in.  The value of learning from local experts is priceless.

Networking

Start a buyers list.  Market and network with professionals in your area who may be interested in any deals you have, if you're wanting to buy join their lists.  Create a great network of like-minded people who you can help out and they can help you out.

Making your first purchase

Before you begin your search, make sure that all of your finances are in order.  Decide your budget, make a plan for the type of property you want, the amount of work you want to put into the property, and what your end goal for that property is.
