Is Los Angeles a good market for a rookie wholesaler?

My name is Josh and I'm 18 years old and I currently live here in Los Angeles. I recently became interested in Real Estate and took an interest in wholesaling. I started attending REIA meetings and some smaller meetups locally and met quite a few wholesalers. Every wholesaler I met was wholesaling out of state and recommended doing the same especially for somebody just starting. I'm curious if it's advisable to start trying to wholesale here in Southern California or If I should take my focus out of state. Also, I'm trying to network as much as possible so if anybody has recommendations for different meetups to attend, or groups to look into, I'd be very grateful for any advice. Thank you BiggerPockets community for the amazing tools and advice you guys provide in the forums!

From a very grateful man/teenager- Josh
