Evictions in North Carolina
I’m self managing my first rental property in Charlotte, NC. I have a tenant who has sighed a 12 month contract and already fallen 9 days behind in payments early into their lease. Every time I inquire about rent, I’m given a new excuse. The newest excuse is delaying the payment 2-3 more days.
I’m hoping an eviction isn’t necessary, but would like to start preparing ahead of time. Cash for keys will be my first option. If they don’t take that option, then I will want to proceed with a formal eviction. I will be doing my own research on local laws & regulations, but want to do this 100% by the books. Does anybody have experience with evictions in North Carolina? Or a real estate attorney they’d recommend in Charlotte incase an eviction is what it comes to? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
