New Maryland Laws taking effect this year

New Maryland laws are going into effect this year. More investors/landlords need to get involved to help to either defeat or modify these bills in our favor. Otherwise the state, counties and local towns / cities will do whatever they want.

Below is a list of the new laws and a list of bills that we help to defeat. But make no mistake, some of these defeated bills will be re-introduced in 2024. 

Bills that pass and are now law in Maryland:

SB 756/HB1050-Access to Counsel in Evictions – Funding – This 1 is going to hurt your wallet!

HB 36/SB 100 Real Property - Actions to Repossess - Proof of Rental Licensure

HB 102/ SB 279-Real Property - Actions for Possession - Pet Protections

HB 151-Real Property - Residential Leases - Notification of Rent Increases

SB 848/HB 826-Statewide Rental Assistance Voucher Program – Establishment

HB 830/ SB 477-Residential Construction - Electric Vehicle Charging

HB 976-Workgroup on Mold Standards and Remediation

SB 746/HB23 - Mobile and Manufactured Homes - Relocation Plans and Sales of Communities (Manufactured Housing Modernization Act of 2023)

Count your blessings that these bills did not pass! A number of them will be re-introduced in next year’s legislative session.
