does anybody know where to get reliable data on whether short term rentals are allowed according to the zoning map of East Orange, NJ?

If you can't find anything on the city's website, then call the city.  That will be the most reliable.

 Did you ever find any definite information on this? I'm interested in Airbnbing in East Orange as well, and the zoning department has told me that it's not legal. But every host I've spoken to that's doing it (and its been a few) says they haven't had a problem.
