How To Go To BPCON as an Introvert
As I prepare to attend BPCON2024 on Sunday, I wanted to give a primer for fellow introverts who get buried at conferences.
It starts with @Alyssa Holbrook. Not only is she an amazing coach for real estate investors and a very good friend of mine, but she is also my conference buffer.
If I don’t have someone to meet somewhere every morning, I may skip. I need an anchor to rely on who I can text in a crowd and find so I don’t go back to my room. And this is at a conference where I know hundreds of investors. This is introvert life. It’s ok.
I am the type of introvert who can get on a stage and do ninety minutes of speaking without blinking. I can host and record podcasts in my sleep and crush. However, four sessions of small talk with strangers is very awkward for me. It tires me out. You?
So, if you are going to BPCON and don’t have a buffer, meet one. Alyssa is NOT an introvert. Not even close. If you know her, you know how true this is. And just as she is there for me, I don’t hold her back. Sometimes she gets on a roll and I am cooked. I go to my room and find her later.
You go to conferences to network first (Lobby Con - IYKYK), learn second. Introverts are actually good networkers because they can focus. Find your introverts at a conference. One good short conversation can help an introvert stay out the whole day.
