Managing fake service and emotional support pets
We air bnb'd our whole home last week and we have security cams in the common areas. We have a no pet policy. We noticed that the family brought 3 small fluffy dogs. When we confronted them they said the dogs were service animals. They provide certificates that were all dated days before this vacation. These were clearly not specially trained "service" dogs. The dogs pee'd all over the carpet and hardwoods. What are a landlords rights in this situation? How can we verify a service animal and confront deceitful tenants? Or avoid getting in this situation all together?
