Dishonest property manager help!!! input required

Hello everyone!

I need some suggestions on handling a property manager dishonest practices and embezzlement.

After a detail review of last year's statements issued by the property management agency  in control of my 8 units building, we found several instances where the property manager did not report all the rents collected.  The  status of the missing rents were not reported as delinquent, eviction processing or clarified in any manner whatsoever.

When clarification of the unreported income was requested, the property manager became aggressive and abusive and now is refusing to answer our phone calls and reply to our emails.  After waiting for a few weeks of no replies or response from the property manager we visited the property and spoke to some of the tenants occupying the units which were supposed to be in payment default. The tenants told and showed us proof of all rent payments.

We are not sure on how to proceed and what are the necessary steps required to resolve this situation. The unreported income at this time accounts for nearly $27,000

Any input in on this matter would be appreciated!!

Mary F.

Immediately hire a new PM and/or send a letter to your residents to submit rent payments and communication to you. Change locks. Contact your attorney general and report the crime. If they are a member of NAPRM or NAR (which I doubt), report them. I image the PM has your security deposits as well.
