Cross Marketing with Airbnb and VRBO

I am currently on VRBO & interested in marketing thru Airbnb (at least for the first year until we are established with reviews). From my understanding there is a bi-directional calendar sync between the two sites to avoid double booking, etc. Is there anything else I should know about using the two sites together? Is it really as simple as linking the two calendars? 

Note - I am the property owner and would like to propose this to our property manager, so I want to have a good understanding of the work involved with it and make sure it is a smooth process.
