Staging a house for resale.

Posted this in rehabbing forum as well, haven't gotten any replies, thought this might be a good place to ask.

Just curious how many of you stage your home before you sell. I have seen and read many articles saying this is a worthy investment. Have any of you tried it and does it pay off? Do you rent the furniture? What is the average cost for a 3 bedroom house?
