Bandit Signs - would you EVER do this?

A well-known REI community organizer/moderator here in D/FW just sent this out in an email today, and I find it unbelievable that he would actually DO this, much less recommend to ME (on his mailing list) that I should do it to. But - what do you think - is this GENIUS? Or a good way to get your A** KICKED? Here is his advice:

Marketing Tip of the day: Bandit Sign Marketing without going to Jail:

Steps to follow:

1. Find 30 to 50 vacant houses in your backyard area (at the --next meeting--, ask me how I do this while never leaving my desk).

2. Drive each property and place a “PROMOTIONAL” corrugated sign in the front flower bed area (at the --next meeting--, ask me where to get these signs made inexpensively, what I put on the sign and what colors I use).

3. Wait for the phone to ring.

4. Convert the call into an appointment

5. Show up 10 minutes early to the designated appointment time.

6. Walk the property and write an offer (I know at least 10 of you know how to do this).

7. Rinse and Repeat

At the (next meeting), ask me how many CITY VIOLATIONS CALLS I have received while doing this?

At the (next meeting), ask me how many MONTHS my sign stays in that yard?

----------- That's it - What do YOU think? --------

    Replied

So in addition to posting signs in violation of the sign ordinance, he suggest trespassing, an actual crime.

Maybe I should offer a guru course on how to steal copper.
